Interesting insight into the ISIS capital, Raqqa.

Dominated by foreigners, who are the most fanatical and brutal members of ISIS. Not to mention the most well paid and spoilt.

What you're seeing is the lomg-standing tension, religious and cultural fissures that were first covered up by the Ottoman Empire, followed by the European powers, and then by the dictators starting to be exposed.

The most apparent of these is the Sunni/Shiite split, but then You get it into the tribal stuff.

SHORTY

No, it’s not ALL the west’s fault but if we keep trying to tell the rest of the world how to run there country’s then we have to expect some resentment towards us.

Democracy is alien to this part of the world but we will insist of trying to give it too them, Saddam, Gaddafi and co were absolute cunts but at least we could deal with them and keep them on a leash as it were, but Bush and Blair particularly were hell bent on bringing them down so they could have our system of democracy but all its done so far is unleash a far nastier pack of cunts who wont be reasoned or even spoken with.

So no it’s not all our fault but we have contributed towards it, even though it may have been well intentioned, no one realised you cant sweep century’s of rule by an iron fist away overnight, its going to take generations to happen, not least due to the hatred and mistrust between all the tribes in that region.

HTH

Re: Jordanian Pilot Burned alive by ISIS
The current problems in this part of the middle east can be put squarely at the feet of Bush and Blair and there obsession with getting rid of Saddam and then Gaddafi, thinking it would restore democracy to the region and they could all live happily ever after, that only left the Syrian dictators who are hanging on by a thread by brutalising the areas they still control.

Problem is though that all the different tribes have century’s of hate and mistrust towards each other so the only way to rule is with an iron fist as Saddam and Gaddafi did, so when the West decided to give them (force on them) democracy, all its done is caused a power vacuum and now the varies tribes are fighting it out across most of that region to see who is the next top dog, ISIS are getting all the headlines but they are basically the Sunni’s using the Jihad banner but the Shiites are up to there own nastiness and ethnic cleansing themselves in areas they control, its just not making headlines like ISIS then you have the smaller and equally as barbaric smaller tribes like the “oppressed Kurds” who are as blood thirsty and nasty as the others, there is just fewer of them and we are arming them so don’t want there atrocities making the news.

Fucking Mess

Re: Jordanian Pilot Burned alive by ISIS
thrown off a building or by israeli bombs? tough call rio…

you are changing your opinions of your friends because of isis? have you even considered isis would happily kill your muslim friends too? sorry mate, i find your rationale very difficult to understand. its like me judging all jewish people israel s' actions or by right wing jewish extremists.

you are reacting exactly as isis want you to react. the killing of thousands of muslims by isis? what did they spark in your morality? more hatred against your muslim friends? i doubt you have the courage to tell your friends you hate them.

ridi - i was suggesting you are a pikey who lives in a caravan.

riosleftsock 9:20 Wed Feb 4
Re: Jordanian Pilot Burned alive by ISIS
Throwing people off buildings is not restricted to abuse of homosexuals.

Many, easy to find videos of Hamas operatives throwing their Fatah brothers off roofs in Gaza when they won the election and decided to "remove" any Fatah MP's and activists.

Religion of peace.

rio - what friends of yours have turned on you & wished harm on you & your friends?

Stirling, 20 years ago I paid very little attention to muslims any more than I would to anybody else, I had (and still have) muslim mates, colleagues and neighbours. Unfortunately, I can't have the same degree of apathy towards them. I want to, but I can't because the current interpretation of their creed is based on wishing to kill me. I treat others as I am treated, so I am not going to embark on a crusade, as I have a basic panglossian attitude towards my fellow creatures, but it is becoming harder and harder.

you come out with some bizarre stuff mate. isis have turned your little head all fuzzy.

Its Daesh, not ISIS mate. Nothing state-like about these scum.
